Covid-19, which are the two countries that have not confirmed cases and deaths to date?

According to the data available on the official website of the World Health Organization, from 3 January 2020 to 16 January 2023 there are two countries that have not confirmed any case of Covid-19 nor, consequently, deaths caused by the disease.

The countries in question, as we learn from the World Health Organization website, are the Turkmenistan and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (ie North Korea). By accessing the data of each country, which the WHO has been monitoring since the official beginning of the pandemic, both Covid-19 cases and deaths would be zero.

This would not mean at all that there have been no infections and deaths in those countries, but simply that the countries in question have not communicated or confirmed data on the matter.

The data recorded by the World Health Organization
By accessing the data of each country, which the WHO has been monitoring since the official beginning of the pandemic, both Covid-19 cases and deaths would be zero for these two territories. This would in no way mean that there have been no infections and deaths in these countries, but simply that the countries in question have not communicated or confirmed data on WHO.

The case Turkmenistan
According to the data communicated to the WHO, the Turkmenistan would have recorded zero cases of Covid-19 and zero deaths. On the website of the WHO we read, however, that in the country in question, on December 4, 2022, the administration of over 8 million doses of vaccine would have been confirmed. Although officially the Turkmenistan is a presidential republic, in fact the country has a totalitarian one-party dictatorship that may have an interest in censoring data and news. According to a Robert Hart article published in forbes.com, the data have been questioned both by informal reports from the country and by experts and WHOitself.

The case of North Korea
According to data communicated to the WHO, the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (North Korea) would have recorded zero cases of Covid-19 and zero deaths. The country also did not communicate official data on the administration of vaccines to the WHO . According to a Robert Hart article published in forbes.com, after denying for two years that it had recorded cases of Covid-19, North Korea would have recognized an outbreak in May 2022 and declared a state of national emergency after the virus would have spread among the population, entirely unvaccinated according to the article. However, North Korea has not reported any data to WHOto date.
