The provocative works of Simone D'Auria, an artist who amazes the international scene

The main characteristic of Simone D'Auria 's artworks is to express a positive energy towards life and nature. Italian, from Bergamo, D'Auria began his career as an architect and then landed in the world of Design and Art, where he found fertile ground to express himself at his best.

Divided between Miami and Italy, the artist over time realized that his role in the world was to create works of art not only aesthetically beautiful but also capable of conveying serenity and joy. Among his most interesting projects, in addition to installations, there is "Spoon", a different point of view on the spoon, an object invented in the Renaissance, which is no longer seen only as a utensil for nourishment but as an object for "biting" life and leaving its mark on the world.

As for the installations, on the other hand, it is interesting to note that most of them, placed in public spaces, aim to give importance to everyday objects (such as the spoons themselves but also wasps or bicycles) by also using different materials such as marble, wood, recycled plastic, iron or steel.

"Spoon, I Eat Earth"
"Spoon, I Eat Earth" is a 2016 installation whose installation was commissioned by the Lungarno Collection of the Ferragamo Group. The 63 spoons of 1.5 meters each that grace the facade of the Gallery Hotel Art in Florence were made from recycled plastic and are a clear invitation to "eat" life, savoring it in all the opportunities it offers. The spoon is also a symbol of the individual's relationship with the Earth and the concept of hunger in the broadest sense: hunger for life, knowledge, freedom and experience.

"Wind Mill"
"Wind Mill" is an installation by Simone D'Auria dated 2013. It was inspired by childhood memories of pinwheels and the artist's desire to prompt viewers to reflect on their own eco-consciousness in order to invent ideas and perspectives for the Planet and for daily personal, present and future well-being. The pinwheels evoke the idea of wind, wind turbines and the clean energy that can be obtained using this type of technology. This installation was also commissioned by the Lungarno Collection of the Ferragamo Group and housed on the facade of Gallery Hotel Art in Florence.

"Cycling Up"
Also commissioned by the Lungarno Collection of the Ferragamo Group, "Cycling Up" is an installation by Simone D'Auria dated 2014. Inspired by the citywide event of the World Cycling Championships held that year in Florence, the project is based on the unprecedented combination of bicycle and art, understood as the fruit of science and technology. It is a vertical installation, with 22 bicycles of past athletes pedaling to the sky, telling and embodying human existence, made by the same tenacity that cyclists put into their sport.

"Personal Unpersonal"
"Personal Unpersonal" is a 2015 installation by Simone D'Auria commissioned by the Lungarno Collection of the Ferragamo Group. It is an installation composed of a series of anthropomorphic figures, with animal faces, who invite the viewer to follow their example in order to reach their social and spiritual stature: a 40-meter climb, before jumping like acrobats within the real world. The artist's research led him to discover that during the Renaissance, the great men of Florence who shaped the history of their city represented their personalities with emblems depicting them with an animal body.

"Freedom"
"Freedom" is a 2018 installation by Simone D'Auria. The Vespa, according to the artist, best embodies the concept of freedom: it is the only scooter in the world built with a unibody frame and marked the happiest moments of many people after World War II. The Vespa frames that make up the installation are 18 in all, and a photograph representing Italy, from North to South, has been affixed to each of them. Verticality as of life represents an opportunity to get where one wants to go, taking the story of Vespa itself as an example, with the sacrifice each person is able to face and the gift of living free that one has.
