The agathis (commonly called kauri or dammar) are ancient conifers that date back to the Carboniferous era (350 - 300 million years ago). It grows in the southern hemisphere, 22 species are known.

Horsetails date back more than 300 million years. There are about 20 species.

The wollemia is a conifer recently discovered (1994) in Australia. The presence in nature is very rare. The estimated age of the first specimens dates back to 200 million years ago.
